Baseball Completes CSAC Series Sweep of Highlanders

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University baseball completed a weekend Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) series sweep of Cairn University with two wins on Saturday afternoon. Game scores were 21-6 and 13-1.

After Cairn scored two runs in the top of the first, Neumann plated four runs in the home half. The Knights ended up scoring at least one run in all but one inning.

The biggest inning was the sixth, as 10 Knights crossed home plate. Buddy Elgin hit a three-run homerun during the inning. Kyle Leone hit a two-run single, followed by a two-run double by Jarad Carney en route to the 10 runs.

Elgin finished game one with three hits, four RBI and two runs scored. Leone had two hits, three runs and three RBI. Kevin Case scored four runs, knocked in two and had two hits.

Jalen Burks started the game and went 3.2 innings. He allowed five runs on seven hits and struck out three. Adrian LaRowe went 0.1 innings and allowed a run on two hits.

Zach Youngberg pitched three hitless and scoreless innings to pick up the win. He struck out two.

In game two, the Knights took a 2-0 lead with two runs in the third inning. Neumann then plated five runs in the fourth innings, including a two-run single by Matt Sheneman.

To cap the scoring, Neumann cross home plate six times in the sixth inning. Trevor Wilkins knocked in two runs with a single as the Knights had four straight singles to start the inning.

Patrick Graham picked up his first collegiate win. He went 5.0 shutout innings and allowed just three hits and struck out three. Jerome Cevetello pitched the sixth inning and Alex Summers struck out the side 1-2-3 in the seventh inning to secure the win.

Neumann (8-11, 5-4 CSAC) will host DeSales on Monday afternoon in non-conference action. First pitch is slated for 3:30 PM.
