RADNOR, Pa. – The Neumann University softball team split a Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) doubleheader at Cabrini College on Saturday afternoon. The Cavaliers won game one 5-3. The Knights took game two 5-4 in 8 innings.

In game one, the Knights took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first as Marisa Giordano scored on a Danielle Grayson single. The Cavaliers capitalized on a Knight error in the bottom of the first to tie the game.

Cabrini then plated two runs in the second for a 3-1 lead. Grayson knocked in her second RBI of the afternoon in the third inning to score Allie White. Becca Reinhart then doubled in White in the fifth inning to tie the game at three.

The Cavalier sent eight batters to the plate in the fifth inning and scored two runs to take a 5-3 lead. The Knights were not able to score any more runs and fell in game one 5-3.

Lauren Wilkie went 6.0 innings and allowed five runs, four earned, and struck out two in the loss.

It took extra innings, but the Knights came away with a 5-4 win in game two.

Reinhart hit a solo shot in the fourth inning to tie the game at one. The Knights then plated three runs in the fifth inning. White knocked in a run and reached on an error. Reinhart then hit a two-run double for a 4-2 lead.

Cabrini hit a two-run single in the bottom of the fifth to tie the game at four.

In the top of the eighth inning and two outs, Grayson connected for a double. Carla D'Angelo came in to pinch run and scored on a Becky Guinto single. The Cavaliers went down 1-2-3 in the bottom of the eighth and the Knights held on for the 5-4 win.

Kristin Beaty went the distance for the Knights in the circle. In 8.0 innings, she allowed four runs, three earned, on seven hits. She struck out one and did not walk a batter.

Neumann (9-5, 5-1 CSAC) will host Centenary tomorrow afternoon in more CSAC action. The doubleheader will begin at 1:00 PM.
