Box Score ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's ice hockey team played to a 1-1 draw with Utica College on Friday evening in ECAC West action.
Shanelle Doucette scored first to put the Knights up by a 1-0 score 11:49 into the game. Jessica Langdon tallied the assist.
The Pioneers tied the game at the 6:40 into the second period. Neither team was able to find the back of the net and the game finished in a 1-1 tie.
Both goals were scored on 5-on-5 action. Neumann outshot Utica 31-26. Justina Mayr made 25 saves in net.
The game was the Knights annual Skate for the Cause as the Knights brought awareness to Cerebral Palsy. Lauren Shipman, who was the inspiration for the Knights cause tonight, dropped the puck for the ceremonial opening face-off.4
Neumann (3-14-2, 1-11-1 ECAC West) and Utica (6-6-4, 4-3-3 ECAC West) will meet again tomorrow afternoon. Action gets underway at 3:00 PM when the Knights will honor their three seniors: Lindsey Spatola, Ashley Reimer and Amanda Simpson.
