ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – The Neumann University volleyball team dropped a close match 3-0 at Elizabethtown College on Monday evening in non-conference action. Set scores were 25-21, 25-22, 25-22.
Julia Malseed led the Knights with 10 kills.
Kat Wolf handed out 25 assists.
Anna Waltz notched 14 digs while
Nikki Collevechio added 13.
All three sets were back and forth battles. In the first set, the teams traded points and were tied at 19. Elizabethtown scored the next three points to take a 22-19 advantage. The teams then traded points again but the Blue Jays were able to get to 25 before the Knights could complete the comeback.
Set two was the same as one as the teams remained close and this time tied at 20. Elizabethtown was able to get a few consecutive points to come away with the set two win.
In set three, the Blue Jays took a 19-13. The Knights then scored the next four points to get to within two, 19-17. A kill by Malseed kept the Knights within two 24-22, but Neumann wasn't able get the points to force a fourth set.
Neumann (10-15) will host Keystone on Wednesday evening in conference action beginning at 7:00 PM.
