ASTON, Pa. - The Neumann University women's tennis resumes its match against Rosemont College on Thursday afternoon, which had been suspended after doubles play last Friday due to rain. The Knights picked up a 6-3 win in the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) match.
The Knights held a 2-1 lead after doubles.
Talene Brinker and
Sarah Schroeder won their match at first doubles 8-2.
Lilly Escobar and
Angaline Salvucci took second doubles 8-1.
Mariah Schiessl and
Colleen Waters came up just short to sweep doubles, falling 8-6 in the third flight.
When the match resumes on Thursday, Neumann took four of the six singles matches for the 6-3 final. Schroeder came away with a 6-2, 6-3 win at first singles. Brinker swept second singles 6-0, 6-0.
Salvucci fell in her first set 6-3, but came back to take the next two sets 6-0, 6-2 to win fourth singles. Schiessl took her first set at fifth singles, 6-4. She dropped the second set 6-4 and then took the match 10-7. Escobar battled at third singles, but fell 7-8 (11-9), 2-6, 10-5.
Neumann (3-9, 1-7 CSAC) will host Cairn tomorrow afternoon in CSAC action beginning at 4:00 PM.
