ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Neumann University field hockey team defeated Cedar Crest College 9-1 on Saturday afternoon in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action.
Jessica Harrell and
Megan Shumate each scored twice for the Knights.
Becca Wallace started the game and made one save.
Kylee Rutty was in net for the second half. Neumann outshot Cedar Crest 28-9 overall and 16-2 on net.
Shumate put Neumann on the board in the fourth minute and the Knights never looked back.
Chelsea Kulesza and
Becky Guinto both scored in the first half for a 3-0 lead at the break.
Harrell scored her first goal 1:46 into the second half. She added her second goal a few minutes later.
Danni Hall scored her first collegiate goal on a penalty stroke in the 56
th minute.
Aalyssa Moyer and Shumate put the Knights up 8-0 with under five minutes remaining.
The Falcons spoiled the shutout bid in the 65
th minute.
Brittany Naimoli capped the scoring in the final minute of play for the 9-1 final.
Neumann (9-8, 3-3 CSAC) will host Cabrini in the regular season finale on Wednesday beginning at 7:00 PM.
