PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Neumann University women's ice hockey fell to Buffalo State 3-1 in Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) West action on Saturday afternoon.
The Bengals scored two goals in the first period, both coming in the final five minutes. The first goal came on the power play while the second was scored with 23 seconds left in the period. Buffalo State took a 3-0 lead 3:57 into the second period.
The Knights spoiled the shutout bid when
Lauren Cusack scored her first goal of the season with 58 seconds left in regulation. The power play goal was assisted by
Jackie Schneider and
Jaclyn King.
Justina Mayr made 16 saves in net. The Knights outshot the Bengals 20-19.
Neumann (0-6, 0-4 ECAC West) will host William Smith for a pair of conference games next weekend. Action gets underway at 4:00 PM on Friday and 2:00 PM on Saturday.
