RADNOR, Pa. – The Neumann University men's basketball team defeated the University of Valley Forge 85-68 in the first game of the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic at Cabrini College on Saturday afternoon.
DeShawn Lowman once led the Knights with 23 points and 10 rebounds. James Butler added 21 points and Denzel Yard tallied 18, with four baskets from beyond the three-point line.
Neumann opened the game by scoring the first six points and led the rest of the way. The Knights built a 10 point lead, 24-14, midway through the first half. The Patriots then scored the next five points, 24-19. Neumann answered with an 18-2 run for a 42-19 lead. The Knights would take a 52-28 lead into halftime.
The Knights would maintain a double-digit lead throughout the second half as they cruised to the 85-68 win.
Neumann (3-3) will resume conference action on Wednesday. The Knights will be at home for the first time this season when they host Gwynedd Mercy beginning at 7:00 PM.
