ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University men's basketball dropped a 102-92 decision against Gwynedd Mercy University in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action on Wednesday evening in the home opener.
Kevin Green led five Knights in double-digits with 23 points and five three-pointers.
DeShawn Lowman tallied 22 points while
James Butler added 17.
Denzel Yard scored 13 with
Tyaire Hudson finishing with 12. The Knights shot 48.7% from the floor for the game.
Neumann opened the game on fire, scoring 11 of the first 13 points for an early 11-2 lead. Gwynedd Mercy answered with a 17-7 run to take a one point lead midway through the half. The teams traded baskets and with 3:14 left in the half, the teams were tied at 32. The Griffins ended the half on a 12-5 run to take a 44-37 lead into halftime.
The teams each went on runs during the second half. Gwynedd Mercy took a 19 point lead, 67-48 with 12:11 left on the clock. Neumann got back to within 11 with a 12-4 run. The teams traded baskets during the second part of the half, but the Knights were not able to get closer than nine.
Neumann (3-4, 0-2 CSAC) will host Cairn on Saturday afternoon in CSAC action beginning at 2:00 PM.
