>ASTON, Pa. - The Neumann University men's hockey team completed a weekend sweep of Morrisville State College with a 7-2 win on Saturday afternoon.
Doug Rose,
Jake Davidson,
Jory Mullin and
Jordan Watt each had a goal and an assist.
Mike Davis tallied two goals.
Shane Topf handed out four assists.
Matt Gibney made 20 saves in net.
The Knights went 5-for-11 on the man advantage and outshot the Mustangs 36-22.
The teams played a quiet first period. The action picked up 5:03 into the second period when Mullin scored a power play goal off an assist from Davis. The Mustangs tied the game at one a minute later. Just 46 seconds later, Davis put Neumann back in front.
Shayne Morrissey and
Steve Low had the assists.
Rose put Neumann up 3-1 at the 12:04 mark of the second. Davidson and Topf assisted on the power play goal.
Matt Zendejas rounded out the scoring for the second period with his first goal of the season. Topf notched the assist as the Knights took a 4-1 lead into the intermission.
Morrisville opened the scoring at the 2:44 mark of the third period for a 4-2 game. Watt scored his first goal of the season 5:42 into the period with Topf again tallying the assist. Davis scored his second goal with the man advantage at the 12:11 mark. Mullin and
Casey Rogers had the assists.
Davidson rounded out the scoring with 3:53 left in regulation with his first game of the season. Watt and Topf had the assists.
Neumann (6-3) gets back into conference action on Friday at Manhattanville. The puck is slated to drop at 7:00 PM.
