GENEVA, N.Y. - The Neumann University men's hockey team dropped its first game of the season by a 4-1 decision at Hobart College on Saturday afternoon in Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) West action.
The Knights scored the only goal of the first period as
Collin O'Neil netted his first goal of the season.
The Statesmen tied the game at one toward the end of the second period and the teams went into the final period knotted at one.
Midway through the third, Hobart was able to take a 2-1 lead. Four minutes later, the Statesmen netted their third goal. Hobart added an insurance goal with an empty net tally with 49 second remaining in regulation.
Matt Gibney made 31 saves in net for the Knights. The Statesmen outshot the Knights 35-22.
Neumann (3-1, 1-1 ECAC West) will head to Manhattanville next Saturday for conference action beginning at 7:00 PM.
