Men's Basketball Secures Win against Pacers

ASTON, Pa. - The Neumann University men's basketball team defeated Marywood University, 72-51, in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action Saturday afternoon.

Three Knights scored in double figures en route to the win. Kevin Green was the leading scorer for Neumann with 20 points. DeShawn Lowman scored 13 points. James Butler recorded 13 points and 13 rebounds for a double-double. Andrew Moye also pulled down 13 rebounds.

The first half remained relatively close with the teams staying trading baskets and notching three tie scores. The Pacers took a 14-11 lead at the 13:37 mark before a scoring drought for almost the next four minutes. Marywood was able to connect on the next basket to take its biggest lead, five, of the half. The Knights went on to score the next 10 points for a 21-16 lead. A three-pointer by Green in the final minute of the first half put Neumann up 34-25 heading into halftime.

Neumann was able to keep the lead throughout the second half and slowly built its lead throughout the half. Marywood was able to get as close as four, early on in the half. The Pacers stayed within striking distance until halfway through the second 20 minutes when the Knights were able to build their lead to double-figures.

With the win, the Knights clinch a postseason berth. Neumann (14-9, 11-5 CSAC) remains home to host Gwynedd Mercy University Monday night in a CSAC contest. Action with the Griffins, who are also 11-5 in the conference, gets underway at 8:00 PM.
