ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University men's basketball team will travel to Cabrini for the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Championship game on Friday night.
Neumann, the No. 2 seed, defeated No. 3 seed Centenary College on Tuesday by a 57-52 score. Cabrini entered the playoffs as the No. 1 seed and defeated No. 4 seed Gwynedd Mercy University on Tuesday night by a 109-101 score. During the regular season, the Knights lost both games to the Cavaliers.
In the semifinal game, James Butler led the Knights with 17 points and nine rebounds. Andrew Moye notched a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Denzel Yard netted 10 points.
Neumann lost 81-60 in early December in the first match-up between the conference opponents. DeShawn Lowman led the Knights with 17 points. Butler would lead the team with 13 rebounds.
The second match-up would be a closer battle, but the Knights would come up short in an 80-71 loss in late January. Moye brought in 22 points while Lowman added 17 points.
This is the second straight year that Neumann and Cabrini have faced off in the CSAC Championships. Last year, the Knights fell to the Cavaliers 96-79. The Knights are hoping that they are able to turn their fortunes around against the Cavaliers. Tip-off is slated to be at 7:00 PM. The winner will represent the CSAC in the NCAA Tournament.
