Women's Hockey Scores 4-3 Overtime Win

POTSDAM, N.Y. – The Neumann University women's ice hockey team scored a 4-3 overtime win at SUNY Potsdam on Friday evening in ECAC West action.

Megan Russelo tallied two goals for the Knights. Sarah Thon handed out three assists. Justina Mayr made 39 saves in net for the win.

In the extra session, Russelo scored her second goal of the game at the 3:18 mark to give the Knights the 4-3 win. Ashley Langdon and Thon had the assists on the game-winner.

Each team was able to light the lamp in the first period. The Bears opened the scoring at the 6:11 mark. Grace Klienbach tied the game with 4:19 left before the intermission. Jaclyn King and Amanda Simpson had the assists.

After no scoring in the second period, Russelo scored a power play goal 13 seconds into the third period. Thon and Kelly Fox assisted as the Knights went up 2-1. Casey Kilduff put Neumann up 3-1 4:55 into the period. Thon and Lindsey Spatola drew the helpers.

Potsdam pulled to within one with 3:17 left in regulation. The Bears then pulled their goalie and tallied the game-winner with the extra attacker with one minute left on the clock. Regulation ended in a tie and the teams went to overtime.

Neumann (5-14-2, 3-11-1 ECAC West) and Potsdam (8-11-1, 5-8-1 ECAC West) will face-off again tomorrow afternoon beginning at 2:00 PM.
