Men's Basketball Uses Strong Second Half to Defeat Cairn

LANGHORNE, Pa. - The Neumann University men's basketball team completed the season series sweep of Cairn University 78-51 on Saturday afternoon in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action.

Four Knights led the team with double-digit points. James Butler netted 16 points while pulling down nine rebounds and blocking three shots. He went 6-for-6 from the free throw line.
Zaahir Smith and DeShawn Lowman dropped 15 points each. Andrew Moye added 12 points.

Cairn started off on an 8-2 run when Lowman ended the run with a layup. Neumann answered with a 13-0 run to take an 8-2 deficit and turn it into a 15-7 lead. The Highlanders started to chip back into the game and tied the game at 23 with 6:52 left in the first half. During the rest of the half, the Knights outscored the Highlanders 11-4 to take a 34-27 lead into the break.

Neumann started off the second half going on a 12-4 run and never looked back. The Knights did not relinquish the lead during the second half and slowly increased it during the final 20 minutes.

Neumann (12-9, 9-5 CSAC) returns home for the final four regular season games beginning with Baptist Bible on Wednesday evening. Action on senior night gets underway at 7:00 PM.
