Box Score AUBURNDALE, Fla. – The Neumann University baseball team used two runs in the eighth inning to defeat St. John Fisher 6-5 on Thursday morning to wrap up play in Florida.
AJ Koscelansky had three hits in the game.
Anthony Stricker started the game for the Knights and went 3.0 innings. He allowed three runs on four hits and struck out four. Kristian DeLuzio went the next 4.0 innings in relief and got the win. He allowed two runs, one earned, on three hits and struck out two. Will Taylor went the final 2.0 innings for the save, giving up one hit.
St. John Fisher got on the board quickly, scoring three runs in the first inning. The Knights got on the board in the fourth inning as Koscelansky knocked in Matt Sheneman with a double.
The Knights then took advantage of a Cardinal error and plated three unearned runs to take a 4-3 advantage. St. John Fisher scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to take back the leas, 5-4.
With two outs in the top of the eighth, Kyle Leone reached back on a single. Jarad Carney then reached on an error. With the bases loaded, Kevin Case hit the ball to third base, where there was an error and two unearned runs scored and the Knights took a 6-5 lead.
The Cardinals were not able to get the tying run across the plate and the Knights came away with the 6-5 come-from-behind win.
Neumann (4-1) is at the mercy of Mother Nature to see when its next game will be.
