FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - The Neumann University baseball team fell at the University of Mary Washington 10-8 on Sunday afternoon in non-conference action.
AJ Koscelansky had two hits and knocked in three runs to lead the Knights. Cody MacNair had two hits and two RBI. Buddy Elgin and Matt Sheneman each scored two runs and Kye Williams knocked in two.
Kristian DeLuzio started the game and went 6 innings. He allowed five runs, four earned, on five hits and struck out four. Three pitchers wrapped up the seventh inning. Lorenzo Williams pitched the eighth inning for the Knights.
Mary Washington scored first in the first inning. With two outs and the bases loaded in the third inning, K. Williams hit a two-run singles to put the Knights up 2-1. Neumann put a single run on the board in each of the fourth, fifth and sixth innings for a 5-1 lead.
In the bottom of the seventh, the Eagles scored six runs and then another three in the eighth inning to take a 10-5 advantage.
Neumann started the top of the ninth with two straight batters being hit by a pitch. With one out, Sheneman walked to load the bases. K. Williams knocked in Nick Panissidi on a ground out. Koscelansky then doubled to knock in two runs and a 10-8 game. With the tying run at the plate, Eric Bergman grounded out to end the threat and the game.
Neumann (10-5) will resume the suspended game with Marywood tomorrow afternoon beginning at 4:30 PM.
