Baseball Come-Back-Attempt Spoiled in Ninth

LA PLUME, Pa. - The Neumann University baseball team fell at Keystone College 6-5 on Friday afternoon in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action.

Matt Sheneman went 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored. AJ Koscelansky also had two hits and knocked in two RBI's. Buddy Elgin likewise, also had two hits and scored two runs.

Matt Anderson started the game and went 6.0 innings. He allowed four runs on seven hits and struck out five. Chris Rupprecht went 2.0 shutout innings and allowed just one hit. Kevin Corris took the loss, going 0.2 innings, allowing two runs on two hits.


Jarad Carney started off the scoring after Kye Williams reached first on a Keystone error. The Giants quickly answered scoring three runs in the bottom of the first inning.

After four scoreless innings, each team scored a run in the sixth inning for a 4-2 score. A sacrifice fly by Eric Bergman scored Sheneman to cut the deficit to one, 4-3, after eight.

With two outs in the top of the ninth, Williams again reached first on an error, allowing Elgin to score from third to tie the game at four. Koscelansky's followed with an RBI single through the right side to score Sheneman and put the Knights up 5-4.

However, the Giants came back in the bottom of the ninth, capitalizing on four Knights error and scoring two runs to win 6-5.

Neumann University (11-7, 6-4 CSAC) will host Keystone for a CSAC doubleheader Saturday afternoon. First pitch is set for 12:00 PM.
