Baseball Splits with Keystone in CSAC Action

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University baseball team split a pair of Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) games against Keystone College on Saturday afternoon. The Knights took game one 3-2. The Giants came back to take game two 5-2.

In game one, the Knights pulled out a 3-2 win. All of the runs scored in the game came in the fifth inning and were unearned.

The Giants opened the scoring in the top of the fifth, capitalizing on some Knights errors to take 2-0 lead. Neumann answered in the bottom of the fifth, scoring three unearned runs of its own. With the bases loaded, Jesus Lantigua walked to score Kye Williams and put the Knights up 3-2.

Kristian DeLuzio pitch the complete game. He allowed two unearned runs on two hits and struck out seven.

In game two, the Giants hit a solo homerun in the top of the first to take an early lead. Keystone then added three more runs in the second and one in the fifth for a 5-0 lead.

Neumann put the first two men on base in the bottom of the seventh and then loaded the bases with one out. Buddy Elgin broke the shutout bid with an RBI groundout. Jarad Carney then knocked in a run on a single with two outs. With the tying run at the plate, Matt Sheneman hit into a fielder choice to end the game.


Tyler Thomas started the game and went 1.2 innings. He allowed four runs on four hits. Bobby Sefick finished the game, going 5.1 innings and allowed just one unearned run on two hits and struck out two.

Neumann (12-8, 7-5 CSAC) heads to Arcadia tomorrow afternoon for a single non-conference game beginning at 3:30 PM.
