Neumann Hits Three Homeruns in Win Over Wesley

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University baseball team defeated Wesley College 17-5 in non-conference action on Thursday afternoon.

Matt Sheneman led the Knights with five RBI and two homeruns. Buddy Elgin and AJ Koscelansky had three hits. Cody MacNair hit his first collegiate homerun in the sixth inning.

Pat O'Leary pitched the first 6.0 innings to pick up his first win of the season. He gave up two runs on three hits while striking out five. Patrick Graham pitched the seventh inning and gave up one unearned run on two hits. Jalen Burks and Mickey Stec each pitched one inning in relief and each gave up one run on one hit.

Neumann set the tone early, scoring four runs in the bottom of the first. Three out of the first four batters of the game got on base to load the bases. Koscelansky singled through the left side to drive in the first run of the game. Eric Bergman walked to drive in the second. An error and a sacrifice fly scored the final two runs of the inning.

Wesley answered in the top of the second by scoring two runs to cut the lead down to 4-2. Neumann would put the pressure on as they scored five runs in the fourth.

Sheneman hit his first homerun of the afternoon in the fifth. MacNair and Sheneman each hit a long ball in the sixth as the Knights plated five runs.

Neumann (14-8-1) travels to Gwynedd Mercy University on Friday for a single Colonial States Athletic Conference contest. First pitch is slated for 3:00 PM.
