Baseball Falls to No. 5 Salisbury

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University baseball team fell to No. 5 Salisbury University by an 8-3 score on Monday afternoon in non-conference action.

Matt Sheneman led the Knights offense with two hits with a homerun and two RBI. Jesus Lantigua hit a solo homerun. Buddy Elgin knocked a double.


Bobby Sefick started the game and went the first five innings. He allowed three runs, two earned, on four walks. Chris Rupprecht pitched 3.0 innings and allowed two runs, one earned, on four hits. Zach Youngberg started the ninth had had one run on one hit. Tyler Thomas finished the ninth inning with two runs on three hits.

The Sea Gulls started the scoring in the fourth inning as they plated three runs. Salisbury added its fourth run on a sacrifice fly in the seventh inning.

Lantigua put the Knights on the board with his solo shot in the bottom of the seventh. Sheneman hit his homerun, a two-run shot, in the bottom of the eighth for a 5-3 game.

Salisbury plated three more runs in the top of the ninth to extend its lead. Neumann was not able to put together a rally in the ninth and the game ended 8-3.

Neumann (15-11-1) will head to Haverford College for a non-conference game tomorrow beginning at 4:00 PM.
