HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Neumann University baseball team fell to Haverford College 11-10 in non-conference play on Tuesday evening.
Eric Bergman led the Knights with three hits and two RBI. Kye Williams contributed two hits and two RBI and Matt Sheneman scored three runs for Neumann. AJ Koscelansky added two hits and scored two runs.
Kutter Endy started the game for Neumann and went 3.2 innings. He allowed five runs, three earned, on five hits and struck out six. Pat O'Leary came in relief and went 1.1 innings. He gave up one run on three hits. Patrick Graham went 0.1 innings and gave up an unearned run on two hits. Lorenzo Williams pitched an inning and gave up one run. Adam Holowienka did not record an out and gave up two hits. Jerome Cevetello went 1.2 innings and gave up two runs on two hits. Kevin Corris came in the ninth and went 0.1 innings and gave up one run and recorded the loss.
Haverford put the pressure on the Knights early, scoring five runs in the first four innings to have a 5-0 lead.
The Knights, we had not recorded a hit until the fifth inning, storm backed and put a seven spot on the board.
Nick Panissidi and Cody MacNair singled with two outs. Jarad Carney walked to load the bases. Kye Williams drove in the first two runs of the game for Neumann with a single to left. Buddy Elgin made the score to 5-3 with a single. An error would continue the inning and allow the Knights to cut the lead to one. Sheneman tied the game up with an RBI double. After a pitching change, Koscelansky tripled and Bergman singled to give the Knights the 7-5 lead.
Haverford scored a run in the fifth and the sixth to tie the game. Neumann answered with a two spot to retake the lead. There were three lead changes in the last five innings. Neumann tied the game up at 10 in the top of the ninth, but Haverford got the win on a walk off wild pitch in the bottom of the inning.
Neumann (15-12-1) will return home to host Cairn University in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action on Friday. First pitch is slated to be at 3:00 PM.
