Baseball Takes CSAC Sweep of Highlanders

LANGHORNE, Pa. - The Neumann University baseball team wrapped up Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action by sweeping a doubleheader at Cairn University on Sunday afternoon. Game scores were 10-0 and 11-6.

In the first game, Jarad Carney went 5-for-5 with two RBI and a run scored. Matt Sheneman had three hits and scored three runs. Eric Bergman had two hits and three RBI. Cody MacNair also had two hits and knocked in a pair.

Matt Anderson went 4.0 innings to get the win. He allowed just two hits and struck out four. Chris Rupprecht went two hitless innings. Kevin Corris wrapped up the ninth inning, giving up one hit.

Neumann put two runs on the board in the second inning and never looked back. Bergman hit a two-run double in the fourth inning for a 4-0 game. Carney hit a solo homerun in the fourth before the Knights added three unearned runs for an 8-0 game after four innings.

The Knights rounded out their scoring with a single run in the fifth and sixth innings.

In game two, Bobby Sefick started and picked up the win. He went 4.0 innings and slowed four runs, three earned, on seven hits. Tyler Thomas, Kevin Giffin and Lorenzo Williams each went an inning.

AJ Koscelansky had three RBI in the game. Carney and Sheneman each added two more hits.

Neumann put two runs on the board in the second inning and another in the third for a 3-0 lead. Cairn was able to plate two runs in the home half of the third. The teams ended up being tied at four after four innings.

The Knights broke open the game in the fifth inning with five runs. Koscelansky hti a two-run homerun for the first two runs. The Highlanders answered with two runs in the bottom of the fifth, but would not be able to get anymore. Neumann added two unearned runs in the seventh to seal the win.

Neumann (18-12-1, 11-7) will wrap up the regular season on Tuesday when it hosts Rowan at 4:00 PM. The Knights will be the No. 3 seed in the CSAC postseason and will begin play on Thursday.
