FREDERICK, Md. – For the second straight game, the Neumann University field hockey team scored five goals and came away with a 5-1 win at Hood College on Wednesday afternoon.
Becky Guinto led the Knights with three goals.
Chelsea Kulesza handed out three assists.
Alexa McIntyre and
Stephanie Brinker also found the back of the cage.
The defense held Hood just five shots.
Becca Wallace made two saves in net. Neumann had 21 shots, led by McIntyre and Guinto with five each and
Jessica Harrell with four.
Guinto put the Knights on the board in the seventh minute off an assist from Kulesza. Guinto scored her second goal in the 11
th minute off a pass from
Danni Hall for a 2-0 lead. McIntyre opened a 3-0 Neumann lead with an unassisted goal in the 31
st minute. The Blazers scored their only goal in the 33
rd minute and the Knights took a 3-1 lead into halftime.
Guinto netted her hat trick with a goal in the 46
th minute off an assist from Kulesza. In the 51
st minute, Brinker her first collegiate goal to seal the win for the Knights. Kulesza tallied her third assist on the goal.
Neumann (5-3) will open conference action on Saturday when it travels to Notre Dame. Action gets underway at 11:00 AM.
