Men's Basketball Drops CSAC Game in OT

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – The Neumann University men's basketball team fell at Centenary College 100-94 in overtime on Wednesday evening in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) play.

All five starters scored in double-digits for the Knights, led by Tyaire Hudson with 21. James Butler went 8-for-8 from the free throw line en route to his 20 points. DeShawn Lowman netted 16 points and Denzel Yard added 13. Darian Barnes netted a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Regulation was a battle that featured 16 tied scores. Barnes tied the game at 77-all with 48 seconds left on the clock. Both teams had an opportunity to take a last second lead, but could not get a shot off and the game went into overtime.

The Knights and Cyclones traded two points to start the overtime period, for the 17th tie of the game. Centenary then hit a three-pointer and went on to score 10 straight points for an 89-79 lead with 2:05 left in the first overtime. A three-pointer by Lowman with 33 seconds remaining brought Neumann to within four, 95-91. The Knights were not able to get the basket to go as time as winding down as fell 100-94.

Neumann (8-6, 4-3 CSAC) will head to Cairn on Saturday for more conference action beginning at 1:00 PM.
