HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – The Neumann University men's basketball team fell at Centenary College 100-94 in overtime on Wednesday evening in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) play.
All five starters scored in double-digits for the Knights, led by
Tyaire Hudson with 21.
James Butler went 8-for-8 from the free throw line en route to his 20 points.
DeShawn Lowman netted 16 points and
Denzel Yard added 13.
Darian Barnes netted a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Regulation was a battle that featured 16 tied scores. Barnes tied the game at 77-all with 48 seconds left on the clock. Both teams had an opportunity to take a last second lead, but could not get a shot off and the game went into overtime.
The Knights and Cyclones traded two points to start the overtime period, for the 17
th tie of the game. Centenary then hit a three-pointer and went on to score 10 straight points for an 89-79 lead with 2:05 left in the first overtime. A three-pointer by Lowman with 33 seconds remaining brought Neumann to within four, 95-91. The Knights were not able to get the basket to go as time as winding down as fell 100-94.
Neumann (8-6, 4-3 CSAC) will head to Cairn on Saturday for more conference action beginning at 1:00 PM.
