LANGHORNE, Pa. – The Neumann University men's basketball team picked up 78-67 Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) win at Cairn University on Saturday afternoon.
The five Knight starters all scored in double-digits, led by
Denzel Yard with 17.
DeShawn Lowman added 13 points.
Tyaire Hudson,
Darian Barnes and
James Butler each netted 12 points. Barnes added 14 rebounds and three blocks.
Neumann opened the game by scoring 11 of the first 15 points. Cairn then scored the next nine points to take a 14-1 led. Yard then connected on a three-pointer to tie the game with 13:29 left in the first half.
With 6:50 left in the first, and the Knights holding a 22-21 lead, Neumann went on an 8-0 run for a 30-21 advantage. Neumann took a 37-32 lead into the locker room.
Midway through the second half, the Knights built up a 16 points advantage, 58-42. The closest the Highlanders would get would be 63-54 with 6:09 remaining. A free throw by Lowman would put Neumann back up by double-digits and would hold that lead for the rest of the game.
Neumann (9-6, 5-3 CSAC) heads to Cabrini on Wednesday to continue conference action beginning at 6:30 PM.
