ELMIRA, N.Y. – The Neumann University women's ice hockey team fell 6-2 at No. 2 Elmira College on Saturday afternoon in Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) West action.
The Soaring Eagles scored the only two goals of the first period to take a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes.
Elmira added to its lead 47 seconds into the second period.
Bek Lucas put the Knights on the board with a power play goal at the 13:17 mark.
Zoe Harkins tallied the assist. The Soaring Eagles scored a minute later to take back their three goal lead and took the 4-1 lead into the third period.
The Soaring Eagles made the score 5-1 5:41 into the third.
Megan Russelo scored an unassisted goal with 2:20 left in regulation for Neumann's second goal. Elmira netted its sixth goal with 32 seconds left on the clock for the 6-2 final.
Justina Mayr made 47 saves in net.
Neumann (3-10-1, 1-7-1 ECAC West) and Elmira (12-1-1, 7-0 ECAC West) will face off again tomorrow afternoon. The puck is slated to drop at 3:00 PM.
