ELMIRA, N.Y. – The Neumann University women's ice hockey team was blanked by No. 2 Elmira 8-0 on Sunday afternoon in Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) West action.
The Soaring Eagles scored twice in the first and twice in the second for a 4-0 lead. Elmira then added four more goals in the third period for the 8-0 win.
Julia Fair made 38 saves in net.
"We didn't give our best effort today," said head coach
Gina Kearns. "If you don't give your best effort against a very good Elmira team, you get the result we got today."
Neumann (3-11-1, 1-8-1 ECAC West) will return to home ice next weekend for the first time in two months as it will host Cortland for a pair of conference games on Friday and Saturday.
