UTICA, N.Y. – The Neumann University men's hockey team was edged 2-1 at Utica College on Friday evening in Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) West action.
After the teams played to a scoreless first period, Utica opened the scoring with a goal at the 15:48 mark of the second period while on the man advantage.
The Pioneers took a 2-0 lead 1:33 into the third period.
Mike Davis found the back of the net with his 18
th goal of the season at the 8:28 mark of the third.
Shayne Morrissey handed out his 16
th assist of the season as the Knights pulled to within one.
Jory Mullin also tallied an assist.
The Knights pulled the goalie for the final 1:17 of regulation to try and tie the game, but they could not get the puck into the back of the net.
Mitch Wiebe made 32 saves in net. The Pioneers outshot the Knights 34-30.
Neumann (10-6-1, 2-5 ECAC West) and Utica (9-6-2, 3-3-1 ECAC West) will face-off again tomorrow evening beginning at 7:00 PM.
