IMMACULATA, Pa. - The Neumann University men's basketball team defeated Immaculata University 83-75 in a back and forth Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) match-up on Wednesday evening.
James Butler led the Knights with 24 points and 13 rebounds.
DeShawn Lowman added 15 and
Denzel Yard added 13.
Darian Barnes grabbed 13 rebounds, netted nine points while blocking three shots.
The game was a battle the entire way and included 11 tied scores. In the first half, the Mighty Macs built their lead up to as many as 11 and would hold a 39-28 lead with 2:12 left in the half. The Knights ended the half with a 7-0 run for a 39-35 score headed into the locker rooms.
The Knights scored six of the first eight points of the second half to tie the game at 41. Over the next 14 minutes, there would be nine lead changes and five knotted scores. With 4:21 on the clock, the teams were locked at 65-all.
Butler went 1-of-2 from the line to break the tie and the Knights went on to score seven straight points for a 72-65 lead with 2:42 on the clock. The teams traded baskets down the stretch and with 45 seconds left, Neumann held a six point advantage, 80-74. Three Knights went 1-for-2 from the line in the final 41 seconds to seal the conference win.
Neumann (11-7, 7-3 CSAC) will host Marywood on Saturday for a CSAC match-up beginning at 1:00 PM.
