ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University men's hockey played to a 2-2 draw against Elmira College in an Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) West matchup on Friday evening.
The Knights got off to a good start, scoring two power play goals in the first period.
Mike Davis put Neumann up 1-0 7:53 into the game.
Steve Low and
Shayne Morrissey had the assists.
Brandon Gagne then found the back of the net just over three minutes later.
Liam Board and
Jon Low tallied the assists. After the first 20 minutes, the Knights held a 2-0 lead and a 21-7 advantage in shots.
Elmira cut the lead in half at the 16:28 mark of the second period. Neumann continued to hold a lead, 2-1, after two periods.
The Soaring Eagles tied the game at two with just 1:38 left in regulation to force overtime. Elmira came back in the shots column and outshot Neumann 46-32 for the game.
Mitch Wiebe made 44 saves in net. The Knights held the Soaring Eagles to 0-for-7 on the man advantage.
Neumann (10-6-3, 2-5-2 ECAC West) and Elmira (9-7-2, 2-5-1 ECAC West) will meet again tomorrow afternoon beginning at 4:00 PM.
