FREDONIA, N.Y. – The Neumann University men's ice hockey team completed a weekend sweep of Fredonia with a 4-3 overtime win on Saturday afternoon.
Mike Davis scored twice.
Nick Perruccio and
Shane Topf each had a goal and an assist.
Jory Mullin and
Lauri Viitanen each handed out two assists.
Mitch Wiebe made 34 saves in net.
The Knights tallied a goal in each period and overtime for their four goals. Fredonia edged Neumann in shots 37-35.
The Blue Devils struck early again, scoring just 1:02 into the game. Perruccio tied the game at one at the 8:43 mark of the first. Topf and Viitanen had the assists. Fredonia took back the lead just 33 seconds later and took the 2-1 lead into intermission.
Topf tied the game with 3:42 left in the second period off assists from Viitanen and Perruccio. Fredonia took back the lead with 36 seconds in the period.
Davis scored the first of his two goals with 2:28 left in regulation to tie the game at three. Mullin and
Shayne Morrissey assisted on the goal that sent the game into overtime.
The Blue Devils were called for a penalty just before regulation ended, and the Knights started the overtime session with the man-advantage. It took just 57 seconds into overtime for Davis to score his second goal of the game and give Neumann the come-from-behind win.
Casey Rogers and Mullin tallied the assists as the Knights got their 10
th win of the season.
Neumann (10-4) will host SUNY-Geneseo on Tuesday evening beginning at 7:00 PM.
