SALEM, Mass. – The Neumann University completed a weekend sweep in New England with a 3-1 win at Salem State on Saturday evening.
The Knights outshot Vikings 32-13 and went 2-for-4 on the power play. Neumann scored a goal in each period en route to the win.
Julia Fair made 12 saves in net for the win.
Megan Russelo opened the scoring for the Knights at the 13:23 mark of the first period.
Jaclyn King assisted on the power play goal.
Jackie Schneider put Neumann up 2-0 3:10 into the second period off an assists from
Sammy Patrick.
Salem cut the lead in half 2:13 into the third period with a power play goal.
Zoe Harkins scored an insurance goal for the Knights with 1:25 left in regulation while on the power play.
Donna Williams and
Grace Klienbach had the assists.
"It was a great team effort today. We stayed patient and were rewarded with the results we worked for", said head coach
Gina Kearns.
Neumann (3-9-1) gets back into conference action next weekend with a pair of games at Elmira.
