LA PLUME, Pa. – The Neumann University field hockey team picked up a 3-2 win at Keystone College on Saturday afternoon in Colonia States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action.
Jessica Harrell scored the game-winning goal in the 68
th minute. With the goal, she is now the program leader in goals with 41, passing Lauren Toppi (2000-03). Harrell also ties Toppi in career points with 97.
Chelsea Kulesza opened the scoring in the 21
st minute off a pass from
Becky Guinto. The Giants tied the score just before halftime and the teams were knotted at one at the break.
Julia Mustin scored off a one-timer off a deflected shot in the 59
th minute to give Neumann back the lead. Keystone against tied the game in the 66
th minute.
With time winding down, Harrell found the back of the cage with 1:14 left in regulation to lift the Knights to victory.
Caitlyn Johnson made two saves in net. The Knights outshot the Giants 22-12 overall and 12-4 on net.
"This was a hard fought team win! We kept out cool and played tough," says Coach Kurpel. "
Danni Hall and
Madison Brown were instrumental in the win with crucial interceptions and
Molly Harmon really stepped up her defense."
Neumann (5-5, 1-2 CSAC) will host Wilson College in non-conference action on Thursday afternoon beginning at 4:00 PM.
