ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University field hockey team scored a 6-3 non-conference win over Wilson College on Thursday afternoon.
Alexis Demask and
Becky Guinto each scored twice to lead the way for Neumann.
Julia Mustin and
Jessica Harrell also tallied for the Knights.
Caitlyn Johnson got the win in net, registering two saves.
Neumann opened the scoring in the 11
th minute as Demask found the back of the cage. Guinto doubled the lead just eight minutes later off a nice feed from Harrell. Wilson would answer back in the 30
th minute, but it would be the last highlight of the half for the Phoenix. The Knights would respond quickly, as both Demask and Guinto would add second goals to make it 4-1. Neumann would carry a 21-4 edge in shots into the half.
The second half started a bit rocky for Neumann, as Wilson notched two early goals to make the score 4-3 just 13 minutes into the half. The Knights would find their game late in the half though, as Mustin and Harrell scored a minute and a half apart to seal the 6-3 win. Neumann would finish the game with a 37-7 advantage in shots, and a 17-12 edge in penalty corners.
Neumann (6-5) is next in action on Saturday, October 8
th as it hosts conference rival Cedar Crest College. The match is scheduled for 12:00 PM.
