GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Neumann University field hockey team won its fifth consecutive game with a 3-1 road non-conference result over Arcadia University on Thursday evening.
Leading the way for Neumann were
Becky Guinto,
Chelsea Kulesza and
Julia Mustin, who each had a goal and an assist in the game. Goalie
Caitlyn Johnson made two saves in goal for the win.
The first half was very evenly played, as each team registered eight shots. Neumann made their chances count a bit more than Arcadia, as they jumped out to an early 2-0 lead on goals by Guinto and Mustin. The second goal was started by a great play by
Laura Stewart, who provided the Knights with a great spark in the midfield over the course of the game. Arcadia would cut the score in half late in the first period and the game would go to halftime with Neumann leading 2-1.
The second stanza saw Neumann dominate play. The visitors registered all nine shots in the half, and were rewarded with a Kulesza goal with just under two minutes left in the game to make the score 3-1. Neumann kept Arcadia off the board for the final two minutes and walked away with the convincing win.
Neumann (9-5) returns to the field on Wednesday, October 19
th for a home matchup versus CSAC rival Gwynedd Mercy University. The match is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
