ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's ice hockey teams was edged late by No. 1 Plattsburgh State, 3-2, on Friday evening in Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) West action.
Bek Lucas had a hand in both goals, scoring and adding an assist in the game.
Julia Fair kept the Knights in the game, making 56 saves in net.
Lucas didn't waste much time as she found the back of the net with an unassisted goal 23 seconds into the game. Neumann took the 1-0 lead into the first intermission.
The Cardinals tied the game with their first of three power play goals 3:33 into the second period.
Grace Klienbach put the Knights back in the lead with a wrist shot with 2:22 left before the second intermission. Lucas and
Kelly Fox had the assists as Neumann took the one goal lead into the second intermission.
Plattsburgh scored its second power play goal 4:37 into the third period to tie the game at three. With time winding down in regulation, the Cardinals scored the eventual game-winner, again on the man-advantage, with 3:44 left on the clock.
Neumann (1-4, 0-3 ECAC West) and Plattsburgh (3-0, 3-0 ECAC West) will meet again tomorrow afternoon at 2:00 PM.
