Men's Hockey Takes 3-1 Win at Stevenson

REISTERSTOWN, Md. – The Neumann University men's ice hockey team defeated Stevenson University 3-1 on Friday evening in Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) West action.
 
Liam Board tallied an assist on all three goals. Shayne Morrissey scored twice and Ryan Luiten found the back of the net once. Tyler Lefebvre made his first start in net for the season and made 29 saves in the win. The Knights outshot the Mustangs 39-30.
 
Morrissey opened the scoring just 3:03 into the game as the Knights were on a five-minute power play. Luiten put Neumann up 2-0 with 1:25 left in the first period, also while on the man-advantage. Neumann outshot Stevenson 15-5 in the opening period.
 
Morrissey scored his second goal of the game at the 15:18 mark of the second period for a 3-0 Neumann lead. Stevenson scored its lone goal of the game with 42 seconds remaining in the second period and also on the man-advantage.
 
Neither team scored in the final period and the Knights came away with the 3-1 win.
 
The game was the first time the two teams have met, as Stevenson is in its first year of competition. This game also marks the first time the Knights have faced former head coach Dominick Dawes, who is now at the helm of Stevenson.
 
Neumann (4-3, 2-3 ECAC West) will head to Lebanon Valley tomorrow for more conference action beginning at 7:00 PM.
