Game Recap: Men's Hockey |

Men's Hockey Takes Down Lebanon Valley

HERSHEY, Pa. – The Neumann University men's ice hockey team scored its second road win in as many nights with a 6-5 triumph over Lebanon Valley College.

Shayne Morrissey led the way for the Knights with two goals, while Johannes Salilla and Lauri Viitanen each registered a goal and an assist. Jory Mullin also posted a pair of assists for Neumann. Tyler Lefebvre and Anthony Pupplo combined for 17 saves in the win.

The game did not start as planned for Neumann, as they found themselves down two goals just twelve minutes into the game. Viitanen would score at the 14:22 mark to bring the Knights back within one goal, but despite outshooting the Flying Dutchmen 12-5, Neumann would head to the first intermission trailing.

The Knights would continue their territorial domination in the second period, outshooting Lebanon Valley 12-6. This period however, the team would be rewarded for its chances. Neumann would notch three goals in the period, including two on the power play. Morrissey would score his first of the game, followed by tallies from Salilla and Shane Topf. The Flying Dutchmen would add a goal in the period as well to make the score 4-3 heading the third period.

The third period would continue to be a see-saw affair with both teams generating chances. Neumann would increase its lead to two goals early in the period as Morrissey found the back of the net for his second marker of the game. The two goal lead would be short-lived though, as Lebanon Valley answered right back to make the score 5-4. The Flying Dutchmen would pull their goalie in an attempt to get the game tied late in the game, but an Anthony Pino empty netter in the final minute would seal the win for the Knights. Lebanon Valley would score with 15 seconds left to bring the score to 6-5, but it would be as close as they would get as Neumann would skate away with its second conference win of the weekend.

Neumann (5-3, 3-3 ECAC West) will be back in action on Saturday, November 26th as it heads to the Skidmore Thanksgiving tournament. Faceoff for the Knights opening game versus Fitchburg State College is scheduled for 5:00 PM.
