ST. DAVID'S, Pa. – The Neumann University men's basketball team hit the road for the first time this season and came home with a 106-90 win at Eastern University on Saturday afternoon in non-conference action.
Six Knights hit double-digits on the scoreboard in the win, led by
DeShawn Lowman with 28. The senior went 12-for-14 from the free throw line.
Carl Wallace had 20 points.
Tyaire Hudson and
James Butler each added 14 points.
Billy Cassidy and
Darian Barnes tallied 10 points each. The team shot 52.9% from the field for the game.
Over the first five minutes of the game, the Knights built and early 12-2 lead. The Eagles started to chip away at the early deficit and, with 8:09 on the clock, took a 27-25 lead. The two teams battled down the stretch of the first half. Wallace hit a three-point basket with 36 seconds left before halftime to give Neumann a 51-48 lead at the break.
To start the second half, the teams traded baskets and the lead. With 16:48 on the clock, Hudson connected on a layup to give Neumann a 55-54 lead, one it would not relinquish. The basket started an 18-5 run for a 12 point lead for the Knights and a 71-59 lead with 11:37 left on the clock. Neumann would keep a double-digit lead for the rest of regulation.
Neumann (2-0) will return home on Tuesday to open conference action. The Knights will host Keystone beginning at 7:00 PM.
