ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University men's basketball team opened Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action with a 105-71 win over Keystone College on Tuesday evening.
Neumann hit the century mark for the third straight game as six Knights scored double-figures.
James Butler netted 23 points and 10 rebounds.
Tyaire Hudson added 15 points.
Carl Wallace also tallied a double-double with 14 points and 10 boards.
Kenny Wilson and
DeShawn Lowman each netted 12 points and
Tony Parker added 10 points. All 12 members of the team that hit the court had at least one rebound.
The gamed started with the teams trading baskets and staying within a few points of each other. With 5:48 left in the first half, the teams were knotted at 25 when the Knights took off. Wallace connected on four straight free throws to tie the game at 25 and Lowman hit a layup for a 27-25 lead. Over the rest of the half, Neumann outscored Keystone 16-4 for a 43-29 halftime lead.
The Knights kept the pressure going in the second half, building their lead to as many as 41, 99-58, with 3:35 on the clock. A free throw by
Justin Fleming gave Neumann its 100
th point of the night and the Knights cruised their way to the conference win.
Neumann (3-0, 1-0 CSAC) will participate in the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic on Saturday at Gwynedd Mercy. The Knights will face the University of Valley Forge at 6:00 PM.
