GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. – The Neumann University men's basketball team defeated the University of Valley Forge 87-58 on Saturday evening at the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic at Gwynedd Mercy University.
Kenny Wilson led the Knights with 21 points and 11 rebounds for a double-double.
DeShawn Lowman netted 19 and went 11-for-12 from the free throw line.
Darian Barnes tallied double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Carl Wallace added 11 points. Nine Knights scored at least two points and the team blocked eight shots.
Over the first four minutes, the teams kept pace with each other. With a 9-7 lead, the Knights held the Patriots without a point and went on a 12-0 run for a 21-7 advantage with 12:43 on the clock. Neumann continued to build its lead to as many as 22 in the half and took a 43-27 lead into halftime.
Valley Forge opened the second half with an 8-3 run to get within 11, 46-35, with 15:35 left in regulation. That was as close as the Patriots would get in the rest of the game as the Knights turned up the heat and kept their lead in double-figures to come away with the win.
Neumann (4-0) will head to Clark Summit on Wednesday for conference action beginning at 7:00 PM.
