ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's ice hockey team dropped a 5-0 decision to Manhattanville College on Tuesday afternoon in non-conference action.
The Valiants struck quickly as they scored three goals in the first 6:49 of the game. Manhattanville scored a power play goal in the second period for a 4-0 lead. The Valiants then capped the scoring with a goal early in the third period.
The second period saw a parade of penalties, after no penalties were called in the first period. For five minutes, there was at least one player in the penalty box and the teams playing 5-on-4 and 4-on-4.
Helen Cooney made 37 saves in net in her first collegiate start.
Neumann (3-6) will wrap up action for the first semester when it heads to Plymouth State on December 2 and 3 for a pair of non-conference games before heading into Christmas break.
