CLARKS SUMMIT, Pa. – The Neumann University men's basketball team won its second consecutive Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) game and fifth consecutive game overall with a 107-67 road victory over Clarks Summit University on Wednesday night.
Five Knights scored in double figures on a night in which the team would shoot a scorching 62.1% from the field and crack the 100 point plateau for the fourth time in five games, The team was led by
James Butler who finished the evening with 25 points and eight rebounds on 10-for-12 shooting from the field.
Darian Barnes also had a good shooting night, making six of his seven shot attempts en route to 16 points, seven rebounds and five blocks.
Kenny Wilson (13 pts.),
Carl Wallace (12 pts.) and
Tyaire Hudson (11 pts.) rounded out Neumann's double-digit scorers.
The start of the game would see the Defenders hang tough against Neumann, but ultimately the Knights would never trail. Neumann held a narrow four point lead (37-33) with 4:39 remaining in the first half, but a 17-5 run to close out the half would stake the Knights to a comfortable lead that they would not relinquish.
The second half was more of the same, as Neumann continued its hot shooting and stepped up its defense. The Knights held Clarks Summit to just 36.67% from the field in the half and rolled to a convincing 40 point win.
Neumann (5-0, 2-0 CSAC) next takes the court on Saturday, December 3
rd as it heads to conference rival Gwynedd-Mercy University in a rematch of last season's CSAC Championship game. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:00 PM.
