Volleyball Drops CSAC Semifinal Battle with Giants

LA PLAUME, Pa. – The Neumann University women's volleyball team fell in a Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) semifinal match on Thursday evening to Keystone College 3-0. Set scores were 25-19, 25-21, 26-24.
 
Hayley Glah led the way with 10 kills. Carlee Herrin handed out 34 assists. Rachael Hoffmann added four blocks. Nikki Collevechio led four Knights in double-digit digs with 11. Ali Frey, Bianca Harbold and Glah each added 10 digs.
 
The Knights opened the match with a service ace by Haley Glah and went on to score the first three points. The Giants would answer by scoring four of the next five points for a 4-4 game. The teams went back and forth and were tied at 10 when Keystone went on a run to take an 18-13 lead and win set one 25-19.
 
Neumann again scored first in set two with a kill by Herring and a service aces by Collevechio. Once again, the teams would end up knotted at four. The Knights held a 16-15 lead when the Giants scored eight straight points for a 23-16 score. Neumann would not go quietly and with the score 24-17, two kills each by Melanie Malseed and Hoffman made the score 24-21. However, the Knights could not string together more points in the run and fell 25-21.
 
In the third set, Keystone took a 4-3 advantage and scored seven straight points for an 11-3 score. Neumann started to chip away at the lead and got to within one, 16-15. Down the stretch and behind 21-18, the Knights strung together five straight points to take a 23-21 lead. The Giants then scored three points for a 24-23 lead. Glah tallied a kill to tie the game at 24, however Keystone was able to get the next two points for the 26-24 final and win.
 
Neumann (18-17) will now wait for the ECAC Tournament announcement on Monday to see if its season will continue.
