ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's ice hockey team fell 7-0 to Elmira on Saturday afternoon, dropping its second game in as many days to the Soaring Eagles.
Goalie
Julia Fair made 49 saves in goal for Neumann.
Grace Klienbach led the team with seven shots on the afternoon.
After playing the third ranked Soaring Eagles to a one-goal game last night, Neumann had hopes of continuing its solid play for a second consecutive game today. Unfortunately for the Knights, Elmira had other ideas. The Soaring Eagles scored just 52 seconds into the game, setting the tone for what would be a dominating performance by the third ranked team in the country. Elmira would add a second goal later in the period to take a 2-0 lead into intermission.
The Soaring Eagles would add three more goals in the second stanza, as well as two more in the third to skate away with a convincing 7-0 win over the Knights. Elmira made Neumann pay for their penalties, scoring on four of its nine power-play attempts during the game. Shots for the game would end 56-15 in favor of the Soaring Eagles.
Neumann (1-3, 0-2 ECAC West) is back on the ice next Friday, November 11th as they host top ranked Plattsburgh State for the first of two games next weekend. Puck drop is slated for 7:00 PM.
