ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's ice hockey team fell to SUNY-Potsdam 5-3 on Saturday afternoon in Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) West play.
Bek Lucas had a goal and an assist.
Julia Fair made 25 saves in net. Both teams had 30 shots on net.
Megan Russelo put the Knights on the board 9:44 into the game. Lucas had the assist for a 1-0 Neumann lead. Potsdam tied the game at one with 3:45 left in the period and the teams went into the first intermission tied.
Lauren Cusack put Neumann back on top 6:25 into the second period.
Casey Kilduff and
Grace Klienbach tallied the assists. With 32 seconds left before the second intermission, the Bear tied the game with a 5-on-3 goal.
Potsdam took its first lead just 39 seconds into the third period while still on the power play. The Bears doubled their lead with a goal midway through the period. Lucas scored an unassisted goal with 3:47 left in regulation to get to within one. Potsdam sealed the win with an empty net goal.
Neumann (4-16-1, 2-13-1 ECAC West) will head to Sacred Heart next weekend for a pair of non-conference games.
