ASTON, Pa. - The Neumann University women's lacrosse team defeated Centenary College 18-6 on Saturday afternoon in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action.
Rebecca Dolenti led the Knights with six goals and an assist.
Jordan Hopkins notched three goals, one assist and won 15 draw controls.
Taylor Klever and
Diana Caicedo added two goals apiece.
Alexa McIntyre also scored two goals and picked up eight ground balls.
Brittany Cassidy and
Shae Risley added a goal and an assist.
Becca Wallace started in net and made eight saves and picked up seven ground balls. The Knights outshot the Cyclones 49-17.
The Cyclones took a 1-0 lead early in the first half, but the Knights answered with four straight goals. Hopkins found the back of the net at the 26:06 mark, followed by Dolenti at 24:24 and Cassidy at 22:44. Dolenti added another goal with 21:32 left to play in the first half.
Leading the Cyclones 4-3 with less than 10 minutes left in the first 30 minutes, Dolenti, Caicedo and McIntyre found the back of the net. Risley added a goal at the 2:27 mark to give Neumann an 8-3 lead at halftime.
The Knights came out equally as strong in the second half. They scored six straight goals in the first ten minutes: three by Dolenti, two by Hopkins and one by Caicedo to increase their lead to 15-4.
After two goals by Centenary, Neumann closed out the game with goals by Klever, McIntyre, and
Kaitlyn Conrad to take the 18-6 win.
Neumann (3-2, 2-0 CSAC) will host Marywood University on Wednesday beginning at 4:00 PM.
