CAMDEN, N.J. – The Neumann University defeated Rutgers University – Camden 12-11 in sudden victory on Thursday afternoon.
Jordan Hopkins led the Knights with six goals.
Kaitlyn Conrad added three goals and two assists.
Taylor Klever handed out two assists.
Becca Wallace made 11 saves in net, including one in overtime.
The Knights outshot the Scarlet Raptors 29-24 in the game and 13-9 in the first half.
Diana Caicedo opened the scoring 2:33 into the game.
Shae Risley and Hopkins' first goal put Neumann up 3-0. After a Scarlet Raptors goal, Conrad went on to score her three goals in a four minute span, with a goal by Hopkins as well, for a 7-1 lead. RUC scored the final three goals of the half, including one with 11 seconds left, for a 7-4 score at the half.
The Scarlet Raptors continued their goal scoring streak with the first four goals of the second half to take an 8-7 lead with 17:23 on the clock. The teams went on to traded goals over the final 17 minutes of regulation. Down by two, Hopkins found the back of the net to get to within on, 11-10, with 3:29 left on the clock. Hopkins scored with three seconds remaining to tie the game and head to overtime. Hopkins netted her third straight goal, and sixth over, 1:21 into overtime for the come-from-behind win.
Neumann (6-2) gets back into conference action on Saturday when it heads to Cedar Crest. Action gets underway at 11:00 AM.
