SALISBURY, Md. – The Neumann University baseball team fell to No. 4 Salisbury University 6-4 on Tuesday afternoon in non-conference action.
AJ Koscelansky,
Kye Williams,
Eric Bergman and
Joey Pedorenko each had two hits.
Zach Cooney started the game and went 6.0 innings he allowed four runs and struck out four in the loss.
Zach Youngberg,
Pat O'Leary and
Anthony Stricker pitched the final two innings.
The Sea Gulls plated two runs in the bottom of the first to take an early 2-0 lead. Salisbury added a run in the fifth inning on a wild pitch.
Neumann scored a run in each of the sixth, seventh, eighth and nine innings. Koscelansky led the sixth off with a double and came around to score on a single by Williams. Pedorenko scored the Knights' second run in the seventh inning. After reaching on a single, he came around to score on a wild pitch.
Salisbury answered with a run of its own in the bottom of the seventh for a 4-2 game. In the top of the eighth, Bergman reached on a single and scored on a single from Pedorenko. The Sea Gulls answered again, this time with a pair of runs in the home half of the eighth.
Williams hit a solo homerun in the ninth inning for a 6-4 score. Next, Bergman singled for the tying run to come to the plate, but the Knights struck out for the final out.
Neumann (3-7) will open its home schedule tomorrow when it hosts Albright. First pitch is slated for 3:00 PM.
